Introduction

This will be my site on the web to talk in an organized, non-time-specific way about things that interest me. I also have a blog called John's Musings where I throw out thoughts from time to time. What may make this a bit more suitable than that for what I want to do is that the blog is more like a time-oriented journal: my thoughts for this specific day. This wiki will be more like a regular web site, which I can edit to organize my thoughts and put in place the writing that I want to do: at least until I run out of space!

As might be expected, this site will be a continual work in progress. I shall be changing and probably reorganizing it as I go along.

Original introductory material

I'm saving the introductory material that was on the page, and in the sidebar, when they first created them. I shall probably need it again later. The generated quick start page also has some usage tips, but has apparently vanished.

Disclaimer

Lots of sites have disclaimers now, so here goes: This site contains links to other sites that I want to mention and discuss. A link to a site is for informational purposes, and does not necessarily imply approval or endorsement by me of any or all material on that site. I just thought you should know.

Religion page

I have added a page with my thoughts on various aspects of religion, specifically Christianity.

Spiritual disciplines

On September 15-17, 2006, my wife Linda and I attended a spiritual formation conference at Union Avenue Baptist Church, featuring Dr. Don Whitney of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. My spiritual disciplines page gives some of my thoughts about this conference, and my application of the spiritual disciplines presented.

Computers

That's what I do, and I'll soon have something to say about them. I'll start a page of my thoughts on programming, particularly Java programming. I am working on revising material for a compiler design course that I hope to teach again some day.

Books I am reading, with some reviews

This reading list page contains a list of some books I have read and am reading, along with some reviews.

C. S. Lewis

C. S. Lewis is one of the great Christian writers of the twentieth century. I have started a page with some comments on his works.

SMOTJ

I belong to a Templar order called the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, and to its Priory of St. Andrew. On March 31, 2007, the Memphis Preceptory of the Poor Knights of Christ hosted the Spring 2007 convent.

Geocaching

In April 2007, I took up geocaching.

Personal History

Here is the beginning of a page with a personal history.

Things Celtic

Here is a report on the North American Festival of Wales 2007.
