Back home.
Here are some prayers I have written for various purposes and times of year. Most of them are from the McLean bulletins that I did.
Lord, with angels, saints, and even poets, we praise you!
10/17/2004
Father, we thank you that your will is for us, not against us. We need you always.
10/24/2004
Lord, we thank you for the memory of all who have gone before us in the faith, and we remember those who suffer even now.
10/31/2004, All Hallows Eve
Lord, as we observe your supper, may we always be mindful of what you have done for us.
11/7/2004
Thank you, God, for everything, especially for Jesus!
11/21/2004, Thanksgiving season
Thank you, God, for coming into our world!
11/28/2004, Advent season
Father of all, who transformed our world by coming into it through Christ our Lord, transform us through your Holy Spirit. You have saved us and changed us already. Make us part of your victory over evil, that we may live and serve you in your creation ever being renewed, for you are holy, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
12/7/2006
Lord, as by baptism you picture to us newness of life, may we live this new year in your service.
1/9/2005
Lord, thank you for those who point the way to freedom.
1/16/2005
Lord, often we feel like a bruised reed or a faintly burning wick. Thank you for Jesus, who is gentle with us and does not let us be broken or extinguished. We wait for his return and the establishment of perfect justice in the earth.
1/30/2005
Lord, we know that we have no righteousness of our own. We thank You that Jesus gives His righteousness to us that we may live before You.
2/6/2005
Lord, in this time when we both celebrate love and begin our journey of remembrance of your sacrifice and glory, we acknowledge with awe that it was your love for us that sent you to the cross. Words cannot express our thanks and love to you for the love that you showed to us.
2/13/2005
Lord, your first disciples did not “get it.” Sometimes we do not “get it” either. Help us to set our minds on the things that matter to you.
